Meet 3 and Next meet
Hi Team,
Well that was quite the experience but home meet 1 against the biggest team we have ever swam against is complete! Our kids swam great and once we have the times finalized, I am sure we will see tons of improved times. On that note, hopefully the times will be entered tomorrow. There was an issue with the transfer of the times from Time Drops to Meet Maestro but it should be fixed tomorrow.
Smyrna is in a different league than us. They normally have 500 swimmers and the only reason they are swimming clubs like ours is because their pool is under construction so they limited their team to 290. But by going into it knowing it was going to be a challenge allowed us to put swimmers in events they normally don't swim and get some times in there and that will really help us in future meets and ASA Championships.
A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers tonight (especially our awesome group of lead volunteers.)
And finally, our coaches did an amazing job. They are so calm in all the chaos and I know it really helps our kids. That was not an easy meet to swim in if you are a 5/6 year old first time swimmer but everyone did great! Our team has always had a culture of being supportive and it starts with Coach Kate and Coach Anna. It was great seeing my daughter (jr. coach Sophia) jump in and help the littles. It was not that long ago that Coach Kate jumped in fully clothed to help Sophia get across the pool as a 5 year old.
I will send out a reminder on this but please do not let your kids sit with you away from the bullpen. It makes it VERY difficult for those volunteers to find the kids. We are going to do a better job of organizing the bullpen by age groups next week.
Lastly, Week 4 meet is open! We will be swimming another home meet against our crosstown rivals, The Murphy Candler Marlins. Let's get some good practices in this week and get ready for a super fun, way less crowded swim meet!
Thanks,
Michael
