Kate Nowak has been coaching the Briarwood Barracudas since the beginning and she has enjoyed watching the team grow and transform over the years. She is a paralegal at Swift Currie McGhee and Hiers in Midtown. She wad a competitive swimmer for 16 years starting as a summer league swimmer at age 6. She grew up swimming at Dynamo Swim Club and Echo Ridge and at age 15 began coaching for both teams. She attended St. Pius X high school where she was a member of the swim team, qualifying for State Championships all four years. She went on to attend Oxford College and Emory University. In her first year at Oxford College, she founded their club swim team, acted as the president for two years and competed in the College Club Nationals Meet where she finaled in her events. She is so excited to be back again for another season with the Barracudas and can't wait to see what the team will accomplish!
Anna Nowak has been coaching the Briarwood Swim Team since 2017. With almost two decades of competitive-swimming experience, she dove into the pool at age six, went on to rack up awards, and swam in championship meets all the way through college.
She began teaching and coaching swim lessons at fifteen, mastering techniques from a variety of stroke schools—blending time-tested drills with fresh, effective training methods. Anna’s naturally competitive spirit lights up every time a swimmer hits a new personal best or surprises themselves with what they can do.
Anna and her sister Kate, Briarwood’s co-head coach, were honored as ASA Coaches of the Year—an achievement they’re incredibly proud to share with the team and community.
Outside the pool, Anna works in marketing at ELLEMES Medical Spa, an award winning medical spa in Sandy Springs! She’s excited for the season ahead and can’t wait to help another group of Briarwood swimmers chase their goals—and bring home another trophy!
