News and upcoming meets
Hi all,
Thank you to everyone for your flexibility as we dealt with rain, thunderstorm delays, and a short practice week due to lifeguard staffing issues. While we ended up losing to Murphy Candler, it was a great meet with some fast times. Swimtopia has a new "records" section so we can now track when we have a new team/pool record. The records go back to 2018 when we started using swimtopia and entering times. We had lots of team records set this week. I will be able to print these on our home heat sheets from now on. Congrats to the following on breaking the prior records:
1. Jake Taylor- 6&u boys 25 yd free (record held since 2019!)
2. Abigail Barnes- 15 & over 50 yd free
3.Gabri Jones- 9/10 50 yd free
4. Abigail Barnes- 15&over 100 yd free
5. Abigail Barnes- 13/14 50 yd back
6. Gabri Jones- 9/10 100 IM
7. Charlotte Miller- 9/10 25 yd breaststroke
8. Levi Meuris- 7/8 25 yd fly (breaking his old record set in 2022)
9. Abigail Barnes- 13/14 50 yd fly

It appears the lifeguard situation has resolved for the time being. Practice this coming week should be a normal practice schedule.

Extra/Post season meets- You can now go in and mark your attendence for the following meets Guppy Meet for 5&6 year olds, GRPA district meet for 7 and up, ASA championships for all swimmers! Please sign up for these as you would a regular meet.
Guppy Meet: Will be held this coming Saturday 6/17 from 9AM-11AM. This is for 5&6 year olds only. The meet will only have Briarwood swimmers. The kids will swim free, backstroke, and some relays. It will be way less intimidating than a normal meet and we will give ribbons out after each race so each kid will get one. We will close registration out for this meet on Friday 6/16 at noon.
GRPA District- Next Saturday 6/24. For 7 and up only! Unfortunately, GRPA only allows for swimmers 7 and older. We are not allowed to swim up any 5 and 6 year olds. The City of Brookhaven is working on getting this meet put together. As we get details we will pass on. Last year it started on Saturday morning and went all day (until the early afternoon). We swim as the City of Brookhaven with Murphy Candler, Hampton Hall, and any other city of Brookhaven resident swimmers who wish to swim. This is how you qualify for GRPA state meet which will be July 14 for 10 and under swimmers and July 15 for 11 and over swimmers in Columbus, GA. It is a fun meet and a huge accomplishment to represent the City of Brookhaven at the state meet. We will close out registration for this meet on Saturday 6/17 at midnight.
ASA Championships- Thursday June 29th @ 4PM. This is one of the coolest experiences for summer swim teams. All age groups are invited to swim in this meet. There will be teams from all over metro Atlanta in our time slot. We swim at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center that was built for the Olympics. We will close registration for this meet by Tuesday June 20th.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks-
Michael
