First Meet DeerBrooke Waters
Good Afternoon Parents,
Thank you to everyone who attended practice last week. As I’m sure you noticed, we were working on things to prepare for the first meet. Just a couple of announcements regarding the upcoming meet. We will be swimming Deerbrooke Waters at our pool tomorrow, Tuesday May 31, 2022. Warm ups will begin at 4:30, please arrive by 4:15. Prior to the meet please mark your swimmers arms and write their name and age group on their back, this will ensure the bullpen volunteers and coaches can find your child and help them get to their events. Please see an example of arm markings below. E=Event Number, H=Heat Number, L=Lane Number then you write what stroke the event is or the stroke and position your child will swim in the relay.
During the meet your child will be required to sit in the bullpen with their teammates, swimmers MAY NOT sit with parents during the meet. There are NO PARENTS IN THE BULL PEN, there will be parent volunteers manning this area, your swimmer must ask a volunteer before they leave the bullpen to go to the bathroom or get food. Please make sure you pack your swimmers snacks and water, a dry towel and maybe a deck of cards so they can play with their friends while waiting for their events.
The swim meet should run pretty smoothy as long as all of the swimmers can be found for their events. A bullpen parent will gather your swimmer and send them to the staging area where they will but put into their heat and lane. The announcer will be calling out the events that are in the water and events that are on deck. Your child will be entered into 2 individual events and up to 2 relays. Entries for relays depend on how many swimmers come to the meet in your child’s age group. !!!PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE HEAT SHEET FOR ALL OF YOUR SWIMMERS EVENTS!!! Please do not leave the meet until all of the events your swimmer is entered in have been completed. If you leave early and your swimmer was entered into a relay you have prevented 3 other swimmers from completing and a chance at a ribbon.
Don’t forget you team apparel! Please have your swimmer in the team suit. We ask that at competitions all swimmers wear their swim caps! This is to present unity, team spirit and it will improve their performance in the water. If your child needs assistance with the cap please see a coach for help. Please make sure you have your goggles (good idea to have a backup pair as well).
Just for a bit of added fun, we have told the swimmer that this meet is 80’s themed. For example pull out scrunchies and neon colors, add a little Pizzazz to your pre-meet attire. Have fun with it!
Please watch for an email later today with the heat sheet and remember to sign up for volunteer positions. As the home team, the meet cannot run without parent volunteers. We thank you in advance for making this a memorable experience for you children. Our volunteers ensure that the meet runs smoothly and helps us to finish the meet in a timely manner and get you home. Many volunteer opportunities give you a front row seat to watch you swimmer, what could be better than that!
There will be concessions, we only accept venmo! There will be Chic-Fil-A.
The Splash Pad will be closed to everyone including swimmers. No one should be in the water unless they are racing. Swimmers will not be playing in the bathrooms. Let's make sure we set a good example of behavior and sportsmanship for our children and the other team. We appreciate you cooperation and communicating this to your children.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow! Lets go Barracudas!
