Parent's meeting and other info
Dear Barracuda Families,
We plan to have a parent meeting on Tuesday 4/26 at 6:30 via zoom. I will send out a zoom link on Monday. Coach Kate will be on the call to give a run down of the season and go over our volunteer requirements. We will have time for questions as well. This year we have a huge team and it is going to be a ton of fun. We did make some adjustments to the rules for the 5 and 6 year old age group as that group has exploded this year! If you are concerned that your child will not be able to swim 1 length of the pool unassisted, NOW is the time to sign them up for lessons. We will hold a try out for new swimmers on the first day and kids who can’t swim the full length will not be allowed to join the team. We will offer refunds for the portion that goes to our team. Please remember that this is not swim lessons and with so many kids on the team, it is simply not safe if your child can’t swim 1 length!
The ASA Meet schedule has been finalized! Please see below for the Official Meet Dates (mainly on Tuesdays; only the last meet will be on a Monday). Please look carefully as some dates may be different from previous emails. Meet schedule and volunteer signups will be posted on the website.

To help you plan:
- The Briarwood Barracudas 2022 Swim Season will be May 16 – July 2. Note: Swimmers that qualify for the State Meet will continue to swim through July 15-16.
- PRACTICES will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. (optional Saturday Morning clinics for swimmers ages 7+ at an additional cost). Morning practices will run Wednesday and Friday from 9AM-10AM starting June 1.
- MEETS will be on Tuesday evenings. (5/31, 6/7, 6/14, 6/21). The last meet will be on a Monday, 6/27.
- The GRPA District (6/17-18 at Briarwood) and ASA (6/30, 4pm at Georgia Tech) meets will be held in June.
- The GRPA State meet (for qualifying swimmers) will be held on July 15 & 16 at the Cherokee Aquatic Center.
- In order to host and run meets smoothly, parent volunteering is mandatory. Please plan on volunteering to work at 2 meets throughout the season.
- SWIMSUITS - It is the same design as last year. Team suits should be worn at meets. Returns are easy so if you are unsure of the size, we recommend buying multiple. If you are unable to purchase a team suit, they may wear a green/black suit. Once confirmed, we will send out details.
