PLEASE READ: ASA Championships Saturday, June 26th 9am-1pm

    Good afternoon Barracuda families!

We are less than a week away for the ASA Championships at GA Tech! We have 35 swimmers participating…EXCITING! Here is very important information you need to
know without hopefully overwhelming you. I have provided some broad/overview details in the outline of this email. Linked is a detailed document that Coach Kate Nowak has created. I encourage you to review that as well as that will answer most if not all the questions regarding the upcoming meet.

WHERE:  Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Center, 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA. We will meet on the lawn to the right of the building. We will enter the building as ONE team at 7:30am. No swimmers can enter unaccompanied. Please allow extra time to park and get to front of the CRC.

SPECTATORS:  No spectators are allowed for this year’s meet. Teams will however be provided extra credentials for parents who volunteer to work for the meet, as well as
extra credentials to help supervise team areas and shuttle swimmers to and from
the deck for their events. There will be a live video stream made available to watch your swimmer. See VOLUNTEERS section. We will need volunteers to assist with this meet.

TEMPERATURE & COVID SYMPTOM CHECKS: We ask that families perform a
temperature check and COVID symptom check prior to your arrival at the campus. All swimmers will be required to be symptom free otherwise will not be allowed access in to the building.

VOLUNTEERS:  We are required to have 7 parent helpers/blue wrist band and there is no deck access, 3 deck volunteers (2 timers and 1 runner)/yellow wrist band). Each team will receive a maximum of 3 deck passes. These will be silicone bands and can be transferrable but no one without a silicone band will be allowed deck access. PLEASE REPLY TO ME ASAP TO VOLUNTEER. WE MUST PROVIDE VOLUNTEERS IN ORDER TO COMPLY WITH LEAGUE REGULATIONS, IF THE SPOTS ARE NOT FILLED WE WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE MEET.  YOU WILL NEED TO WEAR A BRIARWOOD BARRACUDA TEE (ONE CAN BE PROVIDED IF NEED BE).

PARKING: Parking will be available W02 parking deck that is across the street from the front entrance of the CRC. This lot is located at 355 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA 30318. Georgia Tech will let us use the W10 parking lot that is attached to the Campus
Recreation Center it will be FREE PARKING of a sort. The lot will be accessible during a 3-hour window prior to competition. The gate will either be up or allow you to enter without needing a card to access the deck from 6:30 am until 9:30 am for the morning sessions and from 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm for the afternoon sessions.

MERCHANDISE:  Fine Designs & Friends Unlimited will be onsite with official championship apparel and swimming related products. MASKS: It is strongly encouraged that all unvaccinated individuals wear masks at all
times. Swimmers need not wear a mask during warm up, swimming/competing
in an event or warm down but will be asked to wear them in the bullpen.

TEAM ARRIVAL:  Team should arrive attired wearing suits under their clothes or warmups to limit the need for locker room usage. WEAR YOUR BRIARWOOD BARRACUDA TEE!  We will not be allowed into the building until 30 minutes prior to our scheduled warm up time. We are required to enter as ONE team through the team entry location. We will meet outside the Campus Recreation Center in a designated area where coaches and/or team coordinators/parent volunteers can collect members before entering as one group. Unaccompanied swimmers will not be allowed to enter the building.

CREDENTIALS:  Each team will be given a specific number of credentials that must be worn at all times. Only people that will have deck access are swimmers, coaches, meet volunteers and credentialed meet officials.

ITEMS ALLOWED IN THE MEET: Teams are NOT allowed to bring in large coolers, chairs or other items in team seating area. Smaller/personal coolers/bags are allowed as long as they fit under the seat. Send your swimmer with their own water and snacks as there will be no concessions. Teams are allowed to bring motivational signs but those must be posted with blue painters’ tape or hung with zip ties.

I realize this is a lot of information but since we are not allowed to spectate I wanted
families to be fully prepared. It is imperative that the kids be on time so we can enter the building as a team for our designated warmup time. This is the first time the Briarwood Barracudas are participating in this meet, it will be an exciting day but prepare your child that it could also be a long one so make sure to pack water, snacks, games/activities for them to have during times when they are not swimming.
