Information on the 2021 season
Hi Barracuda Families!
We have less than a week until our first practice and less than 2 weeks before our first meet of the season (order that team suit if you have not already)! This is another one of those long emails with a ton of information. Please do not hesitate to email [email protected] with any questions:
Practices- - Please remember to have your child have goggles, towel, swim cap or hair tied back (for girls), and be ready to go by your assigned time. There is not a lot of margin for changing and late swimmers this year. Parents are allowed on the pool deck now! Please respect other parents’ wishes to distance and do not come on the pool deck if you are experiencing any COVID symptoms. Also, if your child tests positive for COVID, please let me and Coach Anna know. We plan to resume our normal family pizza nights on Thursday nights in June! Stay tuned!!!

Meets – It is imperative that everyone signs up to work at least 2 volunteer slots per family throughout the season. The meets can’t run smoothly without parent volunteers. All of the meets are currently up to date and you are able to register for your shift. . You will be able to go into each meet and select the position you wish to volunteer for. Also, you will need to mark your child’s availability for each meet. If they are not marked available, they WILL NOT be entered in the meet. You will need to register by the prior Saturday at noon for the Tuesday meet. Unfortunately, we have to be strict on this because it puts a lot of pressure and undue stress on the coaches to have late adds. You can mark the availability well in advance. Remember to pack snacks and things to do (cards, games, and mad libs are always popular) while your children are waiting in the bullpen. There is a lot of downtime at meets and we request that they stay in the bullpen during the meet so the coaches and volunteers can find them for their event. 5&6 year olds tend to only be entered in the Free Relay, Freestyle, and/or Backstroke which are at the beginning of the meet. Thus, they typically are done early and can leave once they have completed their races. We plan to have some dinner option available at home meets (pizza, food truck, etc). We will have a concession stand set up as well.
Meet Dates (Tuesdays): Warm-ups 4:30 pm, Meet time 5:30 pm usually done by 9:30pm

Post Season and Non-ASA meets
- June 19th- GRPA District Meet. This is being hosted at Briarwood Park Pool this year! This is open to all swimmers in Brookhaven or who swim for a Brookhaven Summer league team. It is for swimmers ages 7 and up. I believe top 2 in each age group (including relays) get invited to swim at the GRPA State Meet
- June 23, 24, or 25 – ASA State Swim Meet at Georgia Tech. We will be assigned a time closer to the meet and it will be on one of these days. We do not know the date yet but we will be grouped with a few other teams and have a small morning or afternoon session to get our races in. As soon as I know more information, I will share it!
- July 17th and 18th- GRPA State Meet at the Cumming Aquatic Center. Any swimmer who qualifies form the GRPA District Meet will be invited to swim in the state meet and compete against top swimmers from all over the state!
Thanks for following to the end! There was just a lot of info to get out. If you have any questions, please reach out to me @ [email protected]. Go Barracudas!
