2021 Summer Registration is now OPEN!!!

Parents,  it's that time of year again!  We are so excited about this upcoming season.  There are several changes so this is a long winded email.  First off, we will be swimming in our brand new pool with diving blocks!  Secondly, we have decided to join ASA.  Murphy Candler will as well.  This will allow us to swim other teams and I think our team will really grow by doing so.  One major change from this is that the meets will be on Tuesday night (you will now have your weekends free!).  Here is a list of things to take note:

    First- Registration is OPEN!

Second-  swimsuits will be available through our website by clicking on shop (swim gear).  I am trying to set up a try on since I anticipate so many new swimmers this year.

Third-  Price will be $95 per swimmer to Briarwood Barracudas and then there is a $34.50 charge to ASA.  Please note that this price will remain the same through 4/15 but on 4/16 the price for ASA goes up to $49.50 per swimmer.  Register early to avoid a late fee.

Fourth-  The city of Brookhaven is going to let us spread our practices out some.  We hope to be able to have smaller groups with less people in the lanes and less swimmers on the deck.  Practices will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5pm-8pm.  We will incorporate some morning practices too for those who can't make the afternoons as well as anyone who wants extra practice.  These will have no additional charge.

Fifth- With no meets on Saturday, we will have various clinics that the coaches will put on for stroke and diving work.  These will require an additional sign up and $10 will be paid directly to the coaches.

Sixth- We are not exactly sure how our meets will look.  We will likely have the option to do in person meets or virtual.  We will continue to work with the City of Brookhaven to ensure we comply with their guidelines.  We have thought about having bullpens for the different clubs on the opposite sides of the parking lot.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Seventh- While we will have 5 coaches this year to help our swimmers improve, our team runs on volunteers.  Once we know what the meet schedule and details look like, we will send around sign ups so that we can make sure the meets run smoothly and we have enough help.

Eighth-  Meets-  We will have 5 meets this year.  It will likely be 2 home and 3 away.  We will also swim in the ASA state meet at Georgia Tech, which is supposedly an awesome experience.  This has an extra fee but the City of Brookhaven has graciously offered to cover the costs of ours and Murphy Candler's team to compete in this meet.  We will also swim (and it looks like host at Briarwood) the GPRA district meet.  We will swim with other teams in Brookhaven to represent the city.  Those who qualify at district will have the opportunity to swim at the state meet in Cumming.  Once again, the City of Brookhaven will cover any registration fees for this meet.

Ninth- Practices will likely begin in the middle of May.  Our first meet will be at the end of May.

Tenth- We will allow swimmers who turn 5 by May 1 to join the team as long as they can swim 1 length of the pool unassisted.  This is swim team, not swim lessons.  We do not have the time to give individual attention to those who are unable to swim.  If you want to enroll your child in swim lessons now, let me know and I can connect you with one of the coaches to see if they have availability.

Thank you for reading through this huge information overload!  We look forward to having a great season where our kids get to have fun, make friends, compete, and learn new skills.

As of now, registration is OPEN so please go in and sign up!
